In everything, give thanks.
The perfect standard is God. We all have expectations of each other. When they are not met, how do we respond? The Pharisees started out with good expectations. They were disappointed in Jesus because he came as a suffering servant instead of a conquering hero. John the Baptist also had disappointments when his expectations were different than God’s plan .
When we do not give thanks in everything, we get a thankless heart. When our expectations are not met, we can be thankful or get a bitter heart.
We can only be thankful to a person, not the stars or any inanimate object.
Being thankful when things do not meet our expectations change us. We have to rely on the blood of Jesus. It is the only sacrifice the will suffice.
